Art is not democratic. Art is sublime.

About This Quote

The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche wrote that “Art is not democratic. Art is sublime.” He was reflecting on the way art ultimately gives a person a lot more power than they might think. In the right circumstances, you can make something as simple as a piece of paper or an image on a canvas feel as immense as the stars in the sky. It’s been said that the stars are nothing but a handful of dust, but it’s hard to believe that’s true when you see them up close and personal. The same power is true of art – it can take something even as small as a painting and make it seem as big as a mountain.
